Emily use to tell me that she exercised and walk to keep death away; it never caught her, time just ran out. She was the strongest, wisest, smartest, common sense down to earth person I knew. But trust me , we that walked with her on earth were thankful that we walk with a special spirit . I am a better human because of Emily and I know her spirit will be with me . It was an honor to walk with Emily Denny Hamblin

Miss Emily was such a sweet soul. Having her as our neighbor and seeing her walking every day made me smile. She would always stop by and pet our dog Winston. Winston looked forward to seeing her each day when she came by! I am so glad she got to meet our daughter Riley a few months ago! She will be sorely missed but she will be our angel watching over us!

I met Emily over 20 years ago when I was a fledgling saxophonist in the New Horizons band. She was an accomplished musician on the clarinet and both the alto and tenor saxes and was a mentor and inspiration to myself and to many. She also served for many years on the Hooked on Bands board in support of her beloved New Horizons band. All of us were the beneficiaries of her musical talent, wit, intellect and forthrightness. I am honored to have had the chance to make many years of music with her and to have called her my friend. She will be greatly missed. On behalf of the New Horizons band, I offer my sincere condolences to her friends and family. Lynda Wright President, Hooked on Bands

I feel so fortunate to have gotten to know Emily through our yoga classes. She was such a beautiful soul, so musically talented, such an intelligent woman. I’ll miss her so much.

Emily and I met 14 years ago at my very first 🎶Band Camp🎶 in Baileys Harbor. I LOVE the Hooked on Bands Band Camp -- and Emily was a BIG part of that. My first year at Camp was amazing... and one of the best and ALL-TIME most memorable Band Camp moments happened that year, when Emily and I spontaneously tore up the dance floor Saturday night at Florians. It was like a scene from a movie where everyone else backs to the edges of the dance floor, watching and 'cheering' us on. It was truly EPIC! 🤩 We entered as complete strangers, but left that dance floor cemented as kindred spirits. ♥️ This September, as we were all leaving Band Camp, I suddenly, randomly, and urgently thought, "OMG, I don't have any photos of just me and Emily, and I *NEED* to get one before we leave Camp!", so I caught her on her way out the door and we posed hurriedly, with me thrusting my phone into a passerby's hands, saying, "Please, take several shots of us...?" ... and then we hugged, waved, and went our separate ways. 👋 Little did I know that would be the last time I'd ever hug or laugh with her. Although she was in her 90s, you'd have never known it -- she was sharp as a tack and walked for miles EVERY day!! 🤗 Emily was an awesome human being: kind, generous, positive, quick with a smile, supportive, talented, smart, funny, and more. Thank you, Emily, for deeply enriching my life and so many others' -- I'm so grateful for your friendship. You will be greatly missed... but you'll always be with me -- in my heart... and on the dance floor! 🥰🥰🪩😉🤩
