Mabel LaVonne Clement

MADISON - Micky Clement, born Mabel LaVonne Baumgartner, peacefully passed away on November 30, 2024. She was born on March 18, 1937, to Julius and Hilda (Christopherson) Baumgartner, and grew up on a farm in Fennimore, Wis.

After completing her education in the local schools, Micky pursued nursing and earned her Registered Nursing degree through Methodist Hospital in Madison, Wis. On April 12, 1958, she married Maurice Clement, and together they settled in Cottage Grove, where they raised four children. After retiring from nursing, Micky dedicated herself to working with local schools, supporting children with special needs.

Micky was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice; her parents; her sister, Arlene Dempsey; and her brother, J. Peter Baumgartner. She is survived by her brothers, Thomas (JoEllen) Baumgartner of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Roy Peterson of Sparta, Wis.; sister-in-law, Sue Baumgartner of Yuma, Ariz.; and children, Michelle Clement of Waunakee, Wis., Mitchell (Valarie) Clement of Cottage Grove, Wis., Marcia (Jeff) Levake of Portage, Wis., and Marie (Joel) Hammond of Cottage Grove, Wis. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Micky’s life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Micky's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Micky’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Prairie Gardens Assisted Living in Sun Prairie and SSM Hospice for all the kind and compassionate care they gave her.
