MOUNT HOREB - Diana S. Homrig, age 81, of Blue Mounds, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Upland Hills Health Hospital. She was born on January 12, 1945, in Macomb, Ill., the daughter of Edward and Lola (Curless) Sperry. Her early life on the family farm shaped her into the amazing woman she is today.
Diana was united in marriage to John Homrig on July 1, 1972, in Macomb, Ill.
Diana taught home economics after graduating from Western Illinois University. She was passionate about teaching and the relationships she built with her students and colleagues. She also enjoyed working for Oster, Lands’ End, Oakwood Village and Duluth Trading Co.
Diana loved conversation and enjoyed meeting and connecting with people, both through her work and in her social life. She had a special gift for building relationships and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. Throughout her life, she found many ways to serve and connect with others-as a customer service representative, Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, and election official at her local polling place.
She enjoyed antiques, gardening, knitting, quilting, and other handwork and crafts. She also loved traveling throughout the state and, most of all, spending time with her family. Diana will be remembered for her generous spirit, her big heart, and her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a consistent blood donor whenever she was able. Diana was a woman of faith who found comfort and community through Bible study.
