James F Belter

OREGON - James F. “Jim” Belter, age 79, of Oregon, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 29, 1942, in Baraboo, the son of Ferdinand and Margaret (Zuch) Belter. Jim graduated from Baraboo High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged in 1965. He married Joyce Sperry on April 13, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nev. Jim worked as a foreman for Engineering Industries, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Oregon. Jim was a very selfless and kind man. He loved playing pranks on his family and friends to see the smile on their face. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and maintaining his garden. Jim loved playing a good card game, euchre and cribbage were his favorites. He also never missed working on a daily cross word puzzle. Most importantly though, he loved his family and spending time with them. Jim is survived by his wife; two sons, Tim (Heather Kirkpatrick) Belter and Jason (Jovita Beria) Belter; daughter, Kelly Hardy; and granddaughter, Faith Vaughan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Mart, Don, Duane, Fritz and Howard Belter. A funeral service followed by military honors will be held at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 143 Washington St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, with the Rev. Jeff Hendrix presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Faith Lutheran Church.
