Obituary
STOUGHTON - Though we are saddened by the passing of Rudolph “Rudy” L. Silbaugh on July 1, 2025, we also rejoice for he has triumphantly returned to our Heavenly Father. Born in Viroqua, Wis., on September 10, 1930, Rudy spent most of his life in his beloved Stoughton, Wis. Rudy graduated from Stoughton High School and began a career as a flooring mechanic, opening U&S Floor Coverings with Everett Urish in 1965.
From an early age, he was very involved in many civic and Christian organizations. Rudy was an alderman from 1978 until 1991, and he was elected as City Council President for a time. In 1990, he won a seat in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 46th District. He served three terms, of which he was very proud. Rudy loved serving the people of his community. He served on several church boards and was a tireless volunteer in many capacities.
Rudy is survived by the love of his life and wife of 75 years, Janet (Nysather); sons, Mark (Diane) and Gary (Michelle); and daughter, Laurie (Darrell Kamin); his grandchildren, Lindsay Pelletier, Laura (Will) Rogers, John (Rachel) Kamin, Tom Kamin, Kari (Adam) Kamin, Ashley (Mason) O’Mara, Trina (Tim) Thiel and Melissa (Steven) Partl; great-grandchildren, Camden, Na’Koa, Zion, Harmony, Sienna, Margit and another on the way; step-grandchildren, Luke (Angela) Modrow and Lindsay (Oliver) Leiva; and step-great-grandchildren, Elana, Ezequiel, Irie and Zachary. He is also survived by his half-brother, Dean (Sharon) Silbaugh. He was preceded in death by his half-brother, Dennis (Connie) Silbaugh; and daughter-in-law, Gail (Rohde) Silbaugh.
Please join us as we celebrate his life through our Lord Jesus Christ at SKAALEN CHAPEL AT SKAALEN RETIREMENT SERVICES, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. A visitation will be held at the chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
