MADISON - Bonnie Darlene (Henning) Ruud, age 87, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026. Bonnie was born on April 19, 1938, the daughter of Robert Woodrow Henning, and Gwendolyn Maxine Babcock.
On June 17, 1961, Bonnie married the love of her life, Gene Ruud. Together they built a beautiful family and raised two daughters, Barbara and Cheryl. Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose generosity and warmth touched everyone she knew.
A lifelong giver, Bonnie dedicated countless hours to her community, including volunteering at Karmenta, the nursing home near her home. Her compassion for others was a core part of who she was.
Bonnie was a fun, nurturing, and endlessly supportive grandmother to Ryan and Heather, and a loving great-grandmother to Landyn, Avett and Jett. She delighted in family traditions, especially hosting holidays, creating memories in the backyard pool, and sharing her spirited love of dachshunds, dogs that brought her great joy throughout her life.
In recent years, Bonnie endured profound loss with grace and strength. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene, in 2020, her youngest daughter, Cheryl, in 2021, and her eldest daughter, Barbara (Rick) Baggs, in 2024. She is survived by her son-in-law, Rick Baggs; grandchildren, Ryan Baggs and Heather (Jeff) Wendt; and her great-grandchildren, Landyn, Avett and Jett. They, along with all who knew her, will remember her as a beautiful soul, fiercely loved, endlessly generous, and deeply missed.
Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of kindness, family, friends, and love. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those she touched.
