Click on Tribute wall (above) and select “Watch Now.” MUSKEGO, Wis. - Jean Lorraine (Halfman) Schwanke, of Muskego and most recently Fitchburg, Wis., died peacefully on Saturday, April 17, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born on Dec. 7, 1943, the daughter of Alice (Wilberscheid) Halfman and Clarence Halfman in Jericho, Wis. Jean married the love of her life, James Schwanke on Nov. 13, 1965, in Combined Locks. Together they had two daughters, Lisa (Schwanke) Stangler and Sara Schwanke. Jean and James enjoyed 55 years traveling together and with their family. Jean was incredibly strong and resilient. She loved her family fiercely, enjoying spending time playing cards, making Christmas candy and shopping (especially for shoes!) She loved to read any mystery novel and was a prolific quilter in her retirement years. Jean is survived by her husband, James; daughters, Lisa and Sara; son-in-law, John Stangler; and grandchildren, Abby, Alison and Ben Stangler whom she adored. She is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Stenklyft of Troup, Texas, and Phyllis Stadtmueller of Rockford, Ill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021.
