(nee Reinecke) King, age 94, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Delores was born on Aug. 13, 1926, in Sheboygan, Wis., to Viola (Ramminger) and Albert Reinecke. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1944 and was a proud alumna of Marquette University, earning a BS in nursing in 1950. Delores worked as a registered nurse in hospitals in Denver and Wisconsin, taught nursing, and served as nurse epidemiologist at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison until her retirement. Delores married Harold King in 1954, and together they raised five children. A longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish in Madison, Delores was known for her strong faith in God through life’s ups and downs as well as her grace, compassion, engaging personality, sense of humor, sheepshead smarts, green thumb and innate ability to recognize and meet the needs of others. She loved the many members of her family beyond words and taught them through word and example to love others - a gift that will keep on giving for generations to come. Delores is survived by her children, Geoff (Tandra Pilgrim), Mary (Paul) Hoff, Kathy (Ben) Newman, John (Lisa Archer) and Karen (Dan) Russell; grandchildren, Tony (Kjerstin), Kate (Joe), Matt (Laura), Dan (Burcu), Rachel (Brent), Alyssa, Jacob (Katie), Emily (Todd), Becca (Sam), Kodiak, Katessa, Melinda and Elliot; great-grandchildren, Amayah, Grace, Will, John Henry and Edwin; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Keith) King and Barbara (Joe) Cypcar; and dear nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday. A committal service will take place at ST. MICHAEL CATHOLIC CEMETERY, Town of Mitchell, N3604 Scenic Drive, Cascade, Wis., at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorials may be gifted in Delores’ name to Agrace HospiceCare.
