STOUGHTON - John Robert McEwing, age 71, of Stoughton, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital, in Madison, Wis. He was born on May 30, 1949, in St. Louis, Mo., to John and Bertha McEwing. John married Kay Carlson on Aug. 30, 1969, in Rockford, Ill.
John graduated from West High School in Rockford. He went on to earn a BBA degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa and a Juris Doctor degree from Drake University. He worked as a corporate attorney specializing in taxes and real estate acquisitions and divestitures. John’s interests included home renovation projects, woodworking and spending time with his beloved family. An avid reader and lifelong learner, his thirst for knowledge encompassed many subjects, including history and biographies. He made it a goal to learn something new every day.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kay McEwing; and sons, John D. (Kristen) and Marc McEwing; grandsons, John T. “Jack” and Paul McEwing; sister, Kathleen McEwing; brother, David (Norma) McEwing; sister-in-law, Connie (Jerry) Stigman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha McEwing.
