BARNEVELD - James E. “Jim” Owens, age 82, of Barneveld, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at home. He was born on June 21, 1938, in Dodgeville, the son of Willis and Mattie (Sutherland) Owens. He married Wanda Humphrey on Dec. 1, 1962, in Barneveld.
Jim graduated from Barneveld High School. He was a Bobcat mechanic. Jim was very involved in the Barneveld community. He served on the village board for 38 years, volunteered on the fire department for 28 years and was a member of the Advancement Association. He loved golfing, hunting, bowling and was an expert “chicken cooker.”
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Wanda Owens; daughter, Dawn Owens, and her children, Nicole, Emilia and Joshua; daughter, Faye Owens, and her children, Colton and Carley; son, Tadd (Tracy) Owens, and their children, Tyler, Taylor, Trenton and Trevor; son, Bret (Lisa) Owens, and their children, Becka and Griffin; sister, Audrey (Ralph) Kleppe; sister-in-law, Betty Owens; foreign exchange students, Claudia, Hernan, Cecilia and Ale; and nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Mattie; sisters, Joyce and Ethel; and twin brother, Joe.
A drive-thru / walk-up celebration of life gathering will be held at BIRCH LAKE, County Highway T, Barneveld, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be made in Jim’s name to the Barneveld Advancement Association, Barneveld Fire Department and Agrace HospiceCare. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I’m very sorry to hear of Jim’s loss. I have so many good memories of him and all of my Owens Family. My prayers are with you in these sad times. Im sure he is now with our Lord. So sorry to hear about the passing of Jimmy, he was such a great person inside and out!
