Richard Allen Aide

MADISON - Richard A. Aide, age 78, passed away after a very brief yet courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He left us with his family by his side on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Richard was born on Jan. 21, 1943, in Madison, Wis., the son of Lavern and Margaret Aide. Richard was self-employed and ran Aides Trophies for 45 years. He loved his work but mostly loved the very loyal customers, that he called friends that he dealt with along the way. Richard enjoyed going to HO-Chunk casino in his spare time. He loved to play blackjack and almost considered himself an expert at the game. But his family believed that he went for the social gathering. Richard bowled for several years and in several leagues at Bowl-A-Vard and Dream Lanes. Richard loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchild. He was always up for a new adventure. Richard was never short on advice or trying to make sure that all his family was taken care of. Richard was extremely outgoing, friendly, caring and loving and as one of his closest friends told me, “There will only ever be one Richard Aide” and this is genuinely believed by all who knew him. Richard is survived by his children, Randy A. (Joyce) Aide of Edgerton, Wis. and Robin A. Schultz of Stoughton, Wis.; four grandchildren, Stephanie M. Aide of Portage; Kayla M. (Dan) Johnson of Edgerton, Jenna M. Buckingham of Stoughton and Jacob J. Schultz of Stoughton; one great-grandchild, Benjamin E. Johnson; adopted granddaughter, Kassidy Aide of Edgerton; step-granddaughter, Simone Martin of Edgerton; uncle, Russell Johnson of Arena; four sisters-in-law, Elaine (Ken) Nelson of Sun Prairie, Carolyn (Al) Kent of Highland, Jane Kroll of Highland and Linda Damon of Waunakee; four brothers-in-law, Merle (Butch) Damon of Madison, David (Linda) Eggers of Beaver Dam, Jim (Delores) Eggers of Highland and Dennis Kosharek of Highland; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Arlene Aide of Madison, Wis.; his father, Lavern Aide of Madison; his mother, Margaret Ellefson of Arena; his stepfather, Edwin Ellefson of Arena; his grandfather, Alfred Amacher and grandmother, Edna Amacher of Arena; several aunts and uncles; brother-in-law, William (Bill) Damon of Waunakee, sisters-in-law, Bev Damon of Madison and Donna Kosharek of Highland; a nephew, Bobby Damon of Beaver Dam; and a niece, Julie Lawyer of Baraboo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Wednesday.
