Tina Marie Volenberg

Obituary
BRODHEAD - Tina (Holt) Volenberg of Brodhead, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiform.
Tina was born on Feb. 3, 1971, in Madison, to the proud parents of Robert and Shirley Holt. She graduated from Madison East High school in 1989. Her first career of choice was to be a cosmetologist, to follow in her father’s barbering footsteps. Tina enjoyed her many clients, and conversations while she was on that path. Eventually she joined Sub-Zero as a claims specialist. She worked there for just over 20 years, where she made many connections with co-workers that became her friends.
The light and joy of Tina’s life were her children, Lexie (16) and Nicholas (13). Tina could always be seen cheering them on at their sporting events and activities.
Tina met the love of her life, Tim Volenberg, in 2015 and they were married on Nov. 11, 2016. Their love story and journey may have been short, but it was life changing for both of them, and their love will live on forever.
Tina enjoyed spending as much time as she could at their family camper at Pride of America Campground. This was her “Happy Place.” From campfires, and pool time, to golf cart rides and visiting with her many friends, it brought her so much joy. Tina always had a love for music. If there was a concert or a band playing somewhere, she would be there. Even in her final weeks, she would request her favorite group, Shinedown, and tap her foot or hand while singing along.
Tina was the most selfless person, and always wanted to do for others. She loved strong, lived big, and refused to ever let anything stop her.
Tina is survived by her loving husband, Tim Volenberg; amazing children, Lexie Lobeck (16) and Nicholas Lobeck (13); mother, Shirley Holt (Ellestad); brother, Bobby Holt (Heather); sister, Laura Johnson; mother-in-law, Sharon Motiff (Edward), father-in-law, Howard Volenberg; brother-in-law, Eddie Motiff (Amanda); and sister-in-law, Angie Evans (Seth). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and some very special “soul sister” friends. Tina was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rodney and Erna Ellestad; and John and Katie Holt; her father, Robert (Bob) Holt; brother-in-law, Craig Johnson; and her aunt and uncles, Tom Holt, and David and Lois Gilbertson.
The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare, Homeview Seniorcare (Kryssa) and Visiting Angels (Drew and Tracy). In the short time that Tina was in your care, she felt loved and cared for. A very special thank you to the UW Carbone Cancer Center, Dr. Howard and Theresa, and Dr. Robbins. You all gave Tina the best possible treatment, and always stayed positive with her which helped her keep her fighting attitude that she had until her last day.
Thank you also to the many family and friends of Tina and the family. The love and support that so many of you have given has helped make this journey a little better.
A private funeral service will be held. A visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 MONONA Drive, Madison, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021. There will be a celebration of life planned for Tina in the future, when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
Memorials may be made to the family to be placed towards Lexie and Nicholas’s college funds. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com .

Tina worked with me at Kare'n for Your hair, years ago. She was always cheerful and energetic. She was loved by our clients and I really enjoyed her personality. She later worked with my Daughter-in-law, Nikki Cobb and I got to keep up with her life thru Nikki. We will all miss Tina, she was a special person.

I met Tina at Sub-Zero. She was the one that trained me for the front desk receptionist duties when I first started there. She was always eager to help me and answer my many questions. We stayed in contact as we switched positions within the company. I still remember the day she and the kids came to my home to pick up their new kitten. She would call me to give me updates and send me pictures of how the kids and the kitten were getting along and growing together. I will always remember Tina with a smile and fondness. She was such a genuine and kind soul. I know that I am blessed to have met her. I’m sending all the prayers that I can for comfort and peace to her family. She will be missed by all those that had the privilege to know her. -Kari Prucha
