MADISON - Marvin W. Droster, age 93, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born in Madison on Dec. 5, 1927, the son of Fred and Ellen (Lester) Droster. He grew up on the family farm which was later developed into the current Droster Road and Park. Marv graduated from Madison East High School with the fabulous class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army after high school at the end of the war. Marvin married Zelda Leistikow on Nov. 11, 1950, in South Leeds.
Marv worked at and managed the body shop at Schappe Pontiac and Don Miller Pontiac for 42 years. Marv loved fixing up and working on cars in his younger years. Sadly, two of his creations didn’t survive his kids’ driving. He was a faithful attendee at high school reunions and breakfasts with classmates. He was a World War II history buff. Marv worked on model railroads and made historic model planes and tanks. He loved working in his yard, and occasional trips to the casino. He was a long-time member and usher at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Above all he loved his family - he was always willing to help his kids with projects or spend time with the grandkids. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a kind and gentle man who will be missed by family and friends.
Marv is survived by his wife of 70 years, Zelda; children, Linette (Greg) Zuchowski, Monica (William) Pritchard and Jay (Mary) Droster; grandchildren, Alicia and Amy Zuchowski, Jennifer (Justin) Grassel, Catharine Pritchard, Andrew Pritchard, Nicolas (Madeline) Pritchard, Colin (Heather) Droster, Isaac and Cody Droster; and six - soon to be eight - great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister, Barbara (Darrell) Heath; sister-in-law, Edna (Robert) Schutz; goddaughter, Kathy Van Maren; and special nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Fred and Dean Droster.
Private family services will be held and burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens.

The family of John and Sylvia Bailey extend their deepest sympathies on the passing of Marv. Our father John and Marv worked together for many years at Schappe’s I know Dad respected Marv’s knowledge and enjoyed his friendship at work. To Zelda and Family, I was saddened to read of Marv's passing. It has been a long time since I have last seen Marv. I believe the last time was after a hockey game at the Coliseum Bar. I was always greeted by Marv with interest in what was going on in my life. I know my mother, Sally, would be sharing sympathies as well. She always commented about how "Marvy" and she loved to dance. She held a special place in her heart for him. I was very touched that Zelda and Ruth Esser came to my sister Ann's funeral service. It brought back the childhood memories I have of this group of friends. So, I hope my brief comments let you know that his memory remains in our family. Love and sympathy, John Soehnlein
