Obituary
MADISON - David J. Showers, age 59, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. He was born on Dec. 10, 1961, in Madison, the son of Herbert and Ruth (Randall) Showers. David graduated from East High School in 1980, and from MATC for welding and mechanics. He married Pamela Rolling on Sept. 26, 1987.
David was a man with a big heart who loved to spend time with his family and playing with his grandkids. He worked various jobs to support his family, but more so to socialize. David took pride in his work but lived to lend a helping hand and to serve others. He impacted many people over the years. David enjoyed taking road trips where he knew all the backroads. He liked 4-wheeling, fishing, watching NASCAR and the Packers, going to dog parks, and the midget races in Sun Prairie. David was a volunteer firefighter for the Blooming Grove Fire Department for over 25 years.
David is survived by his wife, Pamela; children, Jill (Adam Purcell) Showers, Fr. Andrew Showers, Jessica (Jeremy) Douglas and Anthony Showers; grandchildren, Lane and Karsyn Douglas; sister, Amy (Alex Stone) Showers-Stone; mother-in-law, Marlene Rolling; brothers and sisters-in-law, Nora Lea (Mark) Hoesly, Scott (Becky) Rolling, Kevin (Dawn) Rolling, Doug (Beatriz) Rolling, Tom (Kathy) Rolling, Dan (Kristin) Rolling and Terri (Darand) Borneman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and grand-dogs, Enzo, Hank and Paddock. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Donald Rolling; and canine companions, Breezy and Duke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 1 p.m., on Monday April 5, 2021, with Father Chad Droessler presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon, on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
