VERONA - Mary Jane Schmaus, age 81, of Verona, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at home, from complications with M.S. She was born on March 10, 1941, in Alexandria, La., the daughter of Thomas and Myrtle (Gray) Alberti. Mary graduated from West High School. She was united in marriage to Terence Schmaus.
As a young woman, Mary enjoyed the summer months and spending time on the water. She became an excellent water skier. Mary was very devoted to her family. She enjoyed making Christmas tree ornaments to share with family and friends. Mary loved Christmas and worked very hard to make each Christmas very special for her family. Mary was truly an inspiration, she always had a positive attitude and wanted to make everyone around her feel special.
Mary is survived by her husband, Terence; son, Mark (Jackie) Schmaus; two grandchildren, Austin (Ainae) Schmaus and Carson Schmaus; great-grandchild, Jordan Schmaus; and brother, Tom (Vicki) Alberti. She was preceded in death by her parents.
