Bill - Wild Bill, Billy, Kunst, he was called quite a few names in our bowhunting camps. Bill was always happy in our camps, whether cooking, talking big stories, mixing a cocktail, helping do a deer drive, helping haul out deer and elk (he was one of the few that got an elk). Just was a great guy! We had so much fun and he was paramount in making the hunts fun. I know he had many families, blood, military, but I knew him through our bowhunting family. Bill and Merle usually drove out together and Bill had the truck camper. The rest of us stayed in tents, he knew better! I remember coming into camp one time hadn't seen each other for at least a year and of course we started wrestling! dirt and sticks flying I was bleeding we laughed our asses off then had a cocktail by the fire. (tough son of a) What great memories we had an I am honored to have been a part of Bills life. Our little bowhunting family is small but the core group of us still hang out together. This year we got our usual update on how Bill was doing, and it was a good report. We always wanted to know. Although I hadn't seen him an a long time he was always part of our conversations reliving our camp days. Those were very impressionable experiences for all of us. Please rest in peace Bill you deserve that. Sincerely, Brian Fisher

I just looked up your father’s name since this is such an historic day being June 6th, our invasion of Normandy. I was sad to find his obituary but glad I have this opportunity to add a memory for his family to know about. He was in the war with my dad, Michael W. Smulski, who had passed away in 1993. My dad and mom attended reunions with the men (and some wives) that he served with. I spoke with Bill a few years back after I found his information along with photos from the war. I asked him to identify soldiers in some photos my dad had. He was very gracious and did, to the best of his recollections. He was a genuinely nice man. May his soul rest in peace. Ann Marie Hultgren
