MADISON - Judith Ann “Judy” Ward, age 81, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022. at New Perspective Senior Living. She was born on June 28, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Oscar Hassell and Emily (Clark) Hassell.
Judy was a graduate of UW-Stevens Point. She married William Ward on Aug. 2, 1969. Prior to retirement, Judy was a teacher in the Madison Metropolitan School district for several decades. She was very passionate about teaching and her students.
Judy loved listening and singing along to music even in her final days, especially her favorite, Frank Sinatra. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching the Badgers and Packers, and liked playing bunco with her good friends. She also enjoyed watching classic films and hearing what Siskel and Ebert thought of them. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Judith is survived by her children, David (Karen) Ward and Carolyn Ward; grandchildren, Charlotte and Henry Ward; and sister, Kathy (Frank) Krush. She was preceded in death by mother, Emily May Hassell; father, Oscar John Hassell; step-father, Leo Feit; and husband, William Ward.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
