Obituary

MONONA - Sande Daley peacefully passed away at her son’s home on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, after living with terminal cancer for a number of months.

Sande was born in 1945 to Wallace and Helen Daley at Madison General (now Meriter), she graduated from Madison West High School (1963), spent some time at UW-Madison then MATC graduating with an ADN (1978) and earning her BS in Nursing at Edgewood College in 1993 with a Minor in Religious Studies.

She loved being a nurse, traveling (both internationally and domestic), working in the yard, bicycling/hiking/dancing (until she couldn’t), camping and just simply loving life!  Most of all she loved her family and friends!

Sande was also a person who would want you to celebrate her and not grieve her…. you know, the kind who would say, ‘remember the fun conversations/moments we had with a smile and don’t be sad, relish in the fun of the memory/time we had.  In her own words: ‘I believe that you continue to live on in the hearts and memories of people who loved you and whom you loved!’
Sande was preceded in death by her paternal/maternal grandparents; her father and mother; her brother, Lane Daley; her great friend, Judi Bruno Roesch; and her other ‘daughter,’ Joan Wienke; as well as ex-husband Robert Bierd.

Her spirit is carried on in her children, Shane (Dawn), Shawn and Shannon (Brock); her grandchildren, Casey, Trent, Terissa, Brandon, Alex, Teira, Trevin, Brionne, Torren, Tynlee, Talia and Terek; her great-grandchildren, Natallie, Mya, Izzie, Emeric, Altin, Bennett, Tillee and Kristyn; her sister, Kathleen Robinson-Steen; and her great friends, Sandra Ladik and Kate Pender; as well as Katrina Uphoff and the extended family of relations and friends from all walks of life! Shout out to all her peeps from Meriter 6T&7T and the Triangle!

A private family visitation and burial are scheduled. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a future date.

Her beautiful soul will live within us, as she keeps watch over us from now until we see her again.

If I should go tomorrow, it would never be goodbye….
For I have left my heart with you, so don’t you ever cry…
The love that’s deep within me, shall reach you from the stars….
You’ll feel it from the heavens, and it will heal all the scars!

I knew Sande from her years working at Methodist Hospital (now also deceased). She was a great nurse, but a better friend and a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family deeply. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by many. Mary Lu Anderson

To the woman who taught me that it’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see. I will miss your beautiful smile and your cheeky retorts. Rest easy.
