SUN PRAIRIE - Judith Ann Meder, age 83, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at UW Hospital. She was born on June 14, 1941, in DeForest, the daughter of Harold and Evelyn (Haakenstad) Ulvestad.
Judy graduated from DeForest High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Jerome “Jerry” Meder on Nov. 24, 1962, at Norway Grove Memorial Lutheran Church, DeForest. Judy worked as an in-home daycare provider for nearly 30 years. She kept in touch with many of “her kids” over the years. She also worked at American Family Insurance for five years and as a pharmacy technician for 10 years at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, retiring in 2004.
Judy was a 50-plus year member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Esther Circle, Holy Cross Ladies Aid, and for many years sang in the choir. She was also very active in the Bethany Women’s Auxiliary and greatly enjoyed attending the national meeting in Mankato, Minn., every September. Judy enjoyed participating in church activities and loved to gather with her many dear church friends. She was also a loyal volunteer with Ronald McDonald House for over 10 years.
Judy’s roles as mother and grandmother were very important to her. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and traveling with family and friends.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Diane (David) Krszjzaniek; sons, Randy (Margaret) Meder and Mike (Lisa) Meder; grandchildren, Andrew Meder, Avianna Meder, Kiana Krszjzaniek, Emma Krszjzaniek, Jonathan Meder and Eric (Michelle Sunset) Krszjzaniek; sister, Helene (Jon) Bond; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome; brothers, Orine Ulvestad and Richard "Dick" (Pat) Ulvestad; and grandchild, Evan Meder.
A funeral service will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 734 Holy Cross Way, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, with the Rev. Mark Bartels presiding. A private burial will take place at a later date at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 12 noon until the time of the service on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Judy's name to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Bethany Lutheran College.
