Bess Christon

VERONA - Bess Christon, formerly of Elm Grove, Wis., passed away on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, at Willow Pointe Memory Care in Verona, Wis. Bess was born and raised in Hammond, Ind. She was the daughter of Christ and Grace Danikolas. She graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Education, and she loved being a teacher. Bess met her husband, Jim, at a convention in Houston, Texas. Together they raised three children, Debbie, Darlene and Jimmy. Jim passed in 2015. Bess thrived in the suburban life of Elm Grove, making many lifelong friends. She loved playing bridge, tennis, gardening and raising herbs. She really enjoyed attending swim meets to watch her son, Jimmy. In 2011, Bess and Jim sold their home and moved to the Heritage Place in Brookfield. They greatly enjoyed the senior living there. As Bess' dementia worsened, she moved to Willow Pointe Memory Care to be closer to Debbie. Bess is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Jack) Hemb and their son, Brent (Samantha), Middleton; and her son, Jim (Lisa) and their children, Jimmy (Ava), Josie (Liam), and Jon, Eugene, Ore. Her daughter, Darlene passed in 2020. Bess is further survived by her brothers-in-law, Harry and Nick Christon; and nieces and nephews, Chris Costakis, Denise (Neil) Dunchess, and Larry (Jennifer), Nick (Georgia) Chulos, Chris (Tanja) Chulos and Margaret (Brian) Steinhagen, Chris and Ted Danikolas, Tom (Chris) Christon, Barb Christon and Ellen Christon, Laura Hardy and Linda Christon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; daughter, Darlene; sisters, Rita and Mary; and brother, Jim. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the staff at Willow Pointe memory care as well as Stephanie and Julie at Heartland Hospice for their loving and very special care of Mom during the last couple years.
