Obituary

WAUSAU - Matthew J. Loose, loving father of Derek and grandfather of Grayson, lost his fight with life on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at UW Madison hospital at the age of 40. He was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 13, 1980, to Jennifer and Ron Loose. On Feb. 5, 1999 Matt and Angela gave birth to Derek J. Rein in Green Bay, and Matt's grandson, Grayson was born on Feb. 23, 2019, in Green Bay. Matt loved watching sports especially AEW. He also enjoyed playing baseball and was a great pitcher. He loved to listen to music and even self-taught himself to play the electric guitar. Matt loved cooking, Christmas and horror movies. He loved his family deeply to no end, and recently insisted on having a family reunion, which we did. Matt was known for his soft heart, especially when it came to his son, Derek, his grandson, Grayson, his nephews, Kolbe and Jacob, his niece, Skye, and of course Sully, his dog. He had a great sense of humor and often wore his emotions on his sleeve. So many truly loved him. Matt is survived by his mother, Jennifer (Fred) Nuxol; father, Ron (Linda) Loose; brothers, Nathan Loose and Jacob Loose; son, Derek Rein; grandson, Grayson Rein; nephews, Kolbe and Jacob Loose; niece, Skye Loose; aunts, Julie (Bob) Wagner, Jackie Sanger and Sandi (BJ) Howard; uncle, Jeff Koss; godmother, Cheryl Gasser; and many close cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Joyce Koss and Charles Kolbe, Lester and Virginia Loose; aunt, Jill Kolbe; uncle, Jim Fromm; and godmother, Sharon Haas. This has been such a breathtaking loss for all of us. A memorial service will be held at a later date when the virus subsides. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
