BROOKLYN - Alta May Lemke, age 60, of Brooklyn, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 16, 1963, in Stoughton, the daughter of Gerald and Janice (McDermott) Schulz.


May was a member of the Evansville High School, class of 1982. She married Harley Lemke on January 6, 1986, in the Virgin Islands. May worked as a unit coordinator for WPS Insurance, for 16 years.


May enjoyed bowling, pool, shopping and going out on the Harley. Spending time with family, especially her grandkids, was what she loved most. She was a huge historian and loved working on family history.


May is survived by her two daughters, Kaytee (Pelon) Cornejo-Lemke and Karley (Bruce) Crubaugh; six grandchildren, Hayden Lemke, Jase Miller, Selena Cornejo-Lemke, Claudia “Kiya” Cornejo-Lemke, Yasmin "Mimi" Cornejo-Lemke and Nathaniel Shilts; three siblings, Jackie (Alan) Tomlin, Gerald (Carol) Schulz Jr. and Tammy (Terry Haug) Pestor; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Hansen, Julayne (Richard) Anderson and Ginger (Brian) Dreher; two brothers-in-law, Edward (Joan) Lemke and Kendel (Pam) Lemke; son-in-law, Brad (Maria) Shilts; and several nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Lemke; father, Gerald Schulz Sr.; grandson, Johnathan Lemke; granddaughter, Natalia Cornejo-Lemke; brother-in-law, Tom Meyer; and her grandparents.


A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 12 noon on Saturday, December 14, 2024, with the Rev. Jinkyoung presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
 

The family wishes to thank the staff of Agrace HospiceCare for all of their wonderful care and support given to May and her family. They would also like to thank Keith for her last ride on his bike.

I don't recall ever having so much fun with anyone more than when we would get together. Many fond memories for sure of "The girls canoe trips" and the laughs and pure joy of being with someone as fun and loving as Akta May was. I will truly miss her shenanigans. Until we canoe again my dear, always in my heart.

I work at WPS and I remember May being a great Unit Coordinator, she always had a warm smile and happy to help me with my question or to chat. She was so knowledgeable and she always knew the answers. I will always remember her warm smile and her love for Harley and her family. May was a wonderful personality I will miss her
