Obituary
MADISON - Ethel L. “Lucy” Prescott, of Madison, passed away peacefully at Oakwood East on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at the age of 100. She was born in rural Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry and Albertina (Mickelson) Finke. She attended De Forest High School and Madison Business School.
Lucy married Abner “Barney” Prescott on May 30, 1941, and they moved to Detroit. Following Barney’s Navy service in WWII, they returned to Madison. Lucy worked for the Wisconsin State Retirement Fund as a retirement counselor.
She loved sports and was a champion golfer; Lucy and Barney played successfully in many couples’ golf tournaments. Both were excellent bridge players and enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their home. They loved the beauty of America-especially the national parks-and travelled through all 50 states and most of Canada, usually in their RV. They loved the many warm winters they spent in Florida. Lucy was an active member of Monona Lutheran Church and had a deep faith in the Lord which guided her throughout her life.
Lucy was preceded in death by Barney, her husband of 73 years. She is survived by their daughters, Barbara Prescott of Madison and Beverly (Rod) Peloquin of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A private family service was held on January 12, 2021, when Lucy was laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park. We thank our Lord for the many blessings He graciously gave to Lucy during her earthly life and at her death.

Barbara and Beverly, I have such fond memories of both of your parents and you, especially through all the years we were together at Madison Lutheran School and early years at Our Saviour's, and later years with Beverly playing our organ for church services. Your parents were so supportive of MLS. Your Mom may be the last parent left from Barbara and my class of 1958. As sorry as I am to learn of your loss, I rejoice with you of the wonderful reunion your Dad and Mom are now celebrating as they wait for us to be with them again. Judy (Maginnis) Kuster

To Beverly and Barbara, My deepest condolences to you and your families. Lucille,as I knew her,was always the sweetest person to use boys. Likewise to your father Barney. They made a great couple. I had forget that they were accomplished golfers. I golf a lot myself but am not accomplished. 🙁 The last time I saw them was at a grocery store after they had checked out. They said that they had bought groceries before they got on the road to go to Florida. That of course was a long time ago but it was so nice to see them.
