Jill Miller

Obituary
STOUGHTON-Jill Allison Miller, age 64, of Stoughton, sadly passed away on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, the result of a tragic car accident. She was born on Nov. 26, 1956, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Duane and Elaine (Bartelt) Rohde. She graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1974. Jill married the love of her life, Bill Miller, on May 5, 1984, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Dubuque. She adored her husband and he lovingly called her "Little One."
After graduating from UW-Madison with a master’s degree, Jill worked as a social worker for Dane County and then moved to the Edgerton School District as their social worker helping three generations of families. Her work with her students and their families was a true love and passion which they will continue to carry on without her.
Jill’s faith in Jesus Christ was the leading path in her life. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church where she volunteered her time in various activities and became the first woman president on the church council.
Jill enjoyed reading, hiking, fishing, music and dancing, but most of all, camping with her family and friends. Many memories were made at "Millerville," the family's property up north, with campfires, competitive family games, hot-tubbing with a Bloody Mary in hand, winery adventures, playing the air guitar and laughing until it hurt. Jill cherished the visits with her family and friends, especially time with her mom. She loved the yearly fishing trips to Kentucky and was always trying to out fish Bill. No one spent time with Jill without feeling loved, having laughed and making a new friend.
Jill was an avid Badgers football fan and loved the Packers, but their game play would make it impossible for her to watch. She was a trumpet player for the UW-Madison Marching Band the first-year girls were allowed to join. One of her fondest memories was when the UW Alumni Marching Band was invited to perform and she was able to march with her father, a member of the band in the 1950s.
Jill is survived by her husband, Bill; two daughters, Allison Miller and Carly Miller; grandson, Brian Krigbaum; her mother, Elaine Rohde; brother, Mark (Dorothy Carey) Rohde; and sisters, Kim (Jerry) Ferch and Jane Farrar. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Rohde; and sister, Gail Silbaugh.
A PRIVATE memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date. Memorials may be made to Edgerton Elementary Schools with a special notation that it is in memory of Jill Miller. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com .

To the family of Mrs. Jill Allison Miller, both Brenda and I (Rev. Gregory Armstrong are saddened by the unexpected lost. How can I put in words how she contributed to our lives. We held her in high esteem. Both she and the family (Bill, Allison and Carly), we felt close to them. We was always cordial and accommodating. The spent with Her and Bill, we will always hold so dear to us. As stated before, our prayers, thoughts, and memories will forever remain. When we think and see the family, we will forever witness her spirit in the midst. Thank you, Bill, Carly, and Allison for sharing her with us. We believe she is with the angels, simply because she was herself on earth and now that she has transitioned, she remains one. Love: Brenda and Rev. Gregory Armstrong!

Bill, Allison, Carly, Jill was one of a kind! Nobody who met her didn’t feel better after that. I smile right now as I write this thinking of Jill and Joni and Laura McCormick as Girl Scout leaders together. I remember the time they decided it would be a good idea to have the girls build bird houses, but they forgot about half the parts! They ended up distracting the girls with treats and Kool aid, and as they sat together with all of these bird house parts scattered everywhere, the message they conveyed to the girls was, “Sometimes things don’t come out as we planned, and that’s okay.” To this day I think it was a better lesson than actually building the houses... RIP Jill. Love you all. Mike McKenzie

Hello, Bill and family--I was saddened to see this news and am sending you my condolences. I worked at Dane County with Jill for a number of years and have such warm memories of her laugh, her smile and having such a positive and happy outlook. Bill, I know I have seen you many times at Door Creek on golf night and its been nice that you sent my love to Jill a few times that way. Memories of Jill will always bring me a smile, I am so sorry for your sudden loss.

To Bill, Allison, Carly, Auntie Elaine, Mark, Kim & Jane...my heart and love are with you all, and your families. My heart is breaking, to hear about this sad loss of Jill. She was my partner in crime (as I lovingly like to think of her). Since we both were the same age, we did alot of our activities together, when the families got together. The Rohde families grew up together, we had soooo many fun adventures and family vacations together. Jill always kept me laughing. I will always remember one family vacation, when all the Rohde's went up to Uncle Ray Rohde's cabin on Crystal Lake (which we did more than one time...). Our parents told us (Gail, Jill and me) to go across the road & look for the spring. What an adventure we went on..across the road we went, walking & walking & walking in the woods looking for the spring. We got lost, finally we figured out to look for the Lake & walk back to the cabin that way. When we found our way home finally, we sadly looked at our parents & told them we couldn't find the spring. Uncle PeeWee & my Dad walked us across the road to show us an old broken down bed spring (which was the "spring" we were suppose to find..that's not what we were looking for). Gail, looked at Jill & Jill looked at me & after a moment or two...we all laughed & laughed & laughed. That was quite the adventure we all went on that day, together. I know Jill is happy and at peace with her Sister Gail and her Dad, my Uncle PeeWee (Duane) Rohde with her. I'm sure she has been welcomed with open arms by them & our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. My prayers, big hugs and loads of love goes out to the entire Miller & Rohde families!! I miss you all. Pam (Rohde) Hilker 920-382-5200 pam_16@charter.net

I was the school nurse in Edgerton for many years. I had the wonderful pleasure of working closely with Jill and I can say, she was the kindest, caring and fun loving person I have worked with. She loved her family very much and the people she worked with. She will be missed by so many.

Jill was one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. Working with her in the Edgerton School District was a privilege and delight. The bright light of Jill's spirit and personality will be surely missed by everyone who knew her. The kindness and caring she shared with Edgerton students and their families is incalculable. God bless her memory and sending prayers for peace and comfort.
