SUN PRAIRIE - Mary Catherine Hauser, age 75, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Oct. 26, 1946, in Madison, the daughter of Thomas and Lucille (Crowley) Peck.


Mary graduated from Madison East High School in 1964 and Edgewood College.  She worked as an office manager for Dewitt, Ross and Stevens Law Firm and retired after 35 years.


Mary loved being surrounded by her family and cherished her role as grandma. She delighted in hosting gatherings, especially at Christmas and will be fondly remembered for her generosity and kindness. Mary loved to travel the world, with some of her favorite places being Key West and Ireland.


Mary is survived by her two sisters, Pat (Graham Lingard) Hamann and Debbie (Dennis) Scullion; son, Thomas (Mechele) Rodefeld; three grandsons, McEwan (Hannah), Declan and Finnegan; granddaughter, Quinn; niece, Melissa Hamann; sister-in-law, Joan Klebs; friend, Eileen Skaife; and partner, Richard Rickey. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Neil Hauser.


A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.

Mary Hauser was cat with more than "9" lives and lived all of them and "9" more for good measure. She was as tough as they come and as LOVING as a supporter of all who had the pleasure of knowing her ...Mary was so PROUD of Her son, even introducing Tom to the girl he married, a marriage who gave her 4 SUPER grandchildren all with achievements too many to say but their greatest honor was having Mary as a Grandma. Mary traveled the WORLD with Neil "cruising" through life together...than after Neil's passing came Rick Rickey they went the rest of the Hourney together. Mary telling how Rick and Her last Train ride to Alaska was a Movie that should be made...with Lucille Ball starring (maybe in HEAVEN) There are too many stories to tell and too many "good times " by all who knew her... Mary Catherine your LOVE of FAMILY and FRIENDS the HELP you gave so many, and just the most FUN LOVING Person Ever PERSON I have ever known....Mary is "Frying Bacon" in Heaven...LOVE ALWAYS Kelly

I went to grade school with a Mary Peck class of '60. Was in Boy Scouts with a guy by the name of Neil Hauser in troop 34 at St Bernards. Could these two people be the same ones

Even though we are many miles apart, we felt close. I have many fun memories with Mary, especially when we were little. When in Wisconsin, I always stayed at Mary, Pat and Debbie's, my Uncle Tom's.and Aunt Lucille's. She was a happy woman. She stayed with us in Missouri when I was 12. I loved sharing a room with her. I felt we were sisters. I feel I have three sisters. I will miss her terribly! Until we meet again Mary, I love you.

Perhaps my favorite memory of Mary was when we were preparing a project for our confirmation. It was getting close to supper time and I was invited to stay for supper. It was a Friday, and fish sticks were being served. I had never had fish sticks, and thought they were delicious. So much so, that Pat, you offered me yours! Apparently, Mary and Pat did not find fish sticks as tasty as I did. Neil and Mary had many travel adventures together. I still remember them talking about seeing the Matterhorn. Rest in peace, Mary. Mary was my cousin, and I have so many loving memories of her. She always made me laugh and though we didn't see each other much when we were together, it was like we had never been apart. I will miss her but I know she is in heaven now. Love you Mary.
