Glenn Thronson

MOUNT HOREB - Glenn Lowell Thronson, age 89, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at his son’s home in Barneveld surrounded by family. He was born on Sept. 13, 1931, in Mount Horeb, the son of Stanley and Emma (Lehnherr) Thronson. He married Elizabeth “Betsy” Foshe on Dec. 29, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa. Glenn grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm, attended Barber School and graduated from Mount Horeb High School. After serving in the US Army from 1956-58, he operated heavy machinery constructing roads, including Interstate 80 outside Des Moines, Iowa. While attending a Halloween dance in 1959, Glenn met Betsy, the love of his life. Betsy and Glenn farmed in Brigham Township, where they raised five children. He was a life-long member of Perry Lutheran Church, Daleyville, WI. He served in various roles with AMPI (milk) Cooperative and on the Iowa County Board. In 1983 he was appointed Iowa County highway commissioner, where he enjoyed applying his road construction experience and common sense, retiring in 1996. From 1985 to 1998, Glenn and Betsy operated Betsy’s Kitchen, an outgrowth of the Barneveld Tornado. Glenn is survived by his children, Beth Ann (Edward) Wright, Kate (Jeff) Hook, Lowell (Tammie) Thronson, Kirsten Curtis (Scott Mueller) and John (Amy) Thronson; grandchildren, Teddy (Meaghann) Curtis, Amanda (Christopher) Wright, Reggie (Heather) Curtis, Timmy Curtis, Talvick Hook, Glen Hook, Cecilia Hook, Levi (Elizabeth) Thronson, Jacob (Alyssa) Thronson, Ben Thronson, Owen Thronson, Siri Thronson, Selma Wright and Clyde Wright; great-grandchildren, Kemper, Khloey and Keylan Curtis, Amia and Asher Wright, Iver Thronson and Harper Thronson; and siblings, Paul Thronson and Beverly Loomis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy (2014); parents; mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Clyde Foshe; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alona Thronson, Dwayne Loomis, Marguerite and Tim Foshe, and Diane and Jim Foshe.  A private funeral service will take place at Perry Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Twiton officiating. Burial will take place at Perry Lutheran Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hodan Community Services, Mineral Point, WI, or Perry Lutheran Church.
