Obituary
OREGON - Susie Keller, age 67, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wis. She was born in La Crosse on Feb. 12, 1953, to Sally (Hyde) and Richard Pearse Jr., the third of eight children. She met Ken Keller in 1990, they married in 1996, and lived in Oregon, Wis.
Growing up in La Crosse, Susie attended Cathedral grade school and was a proud 1971 graduate of St. Bede academy in Eau Claire. She began her life’s adventure with a move to Madison in 1972 and never left. She worked full-time at St. Mary’s Hospital for 18 years while pursuing her degrees at Edgewood College, accomplishing both her undergrad and MBA with honors.
Susie’s career had two chapters and she was passionate about each. She was a sales manager in home health care for many years. She then reinvented herself in the insurance industry working at American Family for 12 years until just a few months ago. While others were retiring, Susie continued working because she loved to stay busy and she cherished the friendships she developed with her family of clients.
Generous to a fault, Susie showered friends and family with thoughtful gifts, and she took great pride in her matchmaking abilities. Most of all, Susie had a heart of gold, was fiercely loyal, loved to tell a good story and make people laugh.
Susie was preceded in death by parents, Dick and Sally Pearse. In addition to her husband, Ken, she is survived by her three sisters, Sally (Tom) Weingarten of Summerfield, Fla., Muffy (Tom) Snyder of Rockford, Ill., and Ann (Jay) Linhart of La Crosse; and four Pearse brothers, Dick (Candy) of La Crosse, Mick (Shirley) of Shawano, Wis., Bill (Kathy) of Holmen, Wis., and Joe (Kim Myers) of Davenport, Iowa. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews and best friend, Linda (Belle) Leary.
When it is safe to gather, we will celebrate Susie’s wonderful life with a traditional Pearse style bash. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Agrace HospiceCare and request that memorials be directed to them. Online condolences & memorials may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I was very much saddened to read of Susie’s passing. She was my secretary for years at our American Family Insurance office in Fitchburg. Besides being a highly competent and trustworthy manager of our daily office proceedings, Susie was such a cheerful, positive soul who always tried to find the best in people. Dear Ken, We are so sorry to hear about Susie. The fact that she loved to give is so true. When we went to Mt. Rushmore, she gave us a picture puzzle of it. That is a wonderful memory and sad because I'm trying to do it, again, since last Christmas! I do and will always think of her when I pull that puzzle out. Love to you and your family.
