Obituary

MIDDLETON - Joseph Anthony Acker Jr., age 85, of Middleton, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at Homestead Living. He was born on March 2, 1935, in Madison, Wis., the son of Joseph Acker Sr. and Elizabeth (Ziegler) Acker. Joe graduated from Middleton High School in 1953. He married Kathleen Coleman on Aug. 27, 1993, in Sauk City. Joe served in the U.S. Army, and participated in the Badger Honor Flight. Prior to retirement, Joe worked the family farm. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, playing cards, coaching tug of war, playing baseball, watching all sports (especially boxing) and traveling. Most of all, he enjoyed watching and attending his grandchildren's activities. Joe was a long-time member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Ashton. Joe is survived by his wife, Kathy; five children, Peter (Linda) Acker, Scott (LeAnn) Acker, Lance (Mickey Wagner) Acker, Lani (Scott) Largent, and Shawn Jessie; two sisters, Darlene Endres and Annette (Mike) Thompson; four grandchildren, Tristan Largent, Briana Jessie, Emerson Largent, and Elliott Acker; and sister-in-law, Patty Acker. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Voss and Gladys Boeker; and brother, Daniel Acker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7121 County Trunk K, Ashton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, followed by burial in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
