Kevin Handel

MOUNT HOREB - Kevin Gail Handel, 57, of BeeHive Homes of Mount Horeb (Assisted Living), passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020. Kevin was born on Dec. 7, 1963, to Thomas Handel and Janice Handel in Madison. After graduating high school in 1982, he went on to study automotive mechanics and police science at Madison Area Technical College. After graduation, Kevin worked as a police officer at the Black Earth Police Department and eventually became the Police Chief. He worked for the Black Earth Police Department for over 12 years. Kevin left police work to pursue a career as a builder and become the owner of his own company - Timberline Builders. Kevin was preceded in death by his loving mother, Janice (2016); and infant son, Shawn (1994). He is survived by his children, Serena Handel and Daniel Handel. Kevin is also survived by sisters, Teresa Steffen and Lori Davis; as well as his father, Thomas Handel. Due to COVID-19, a private family service will be held on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at 10 a.m. Family and friends who wish to view the service via LIVE STREAM may visit Kevin’s obituary page at www.gundersonfh.com and click on the Live Webcast link at the time of service. Burial will be held at Vermont Lutheran Cemetery. In addition, the family would like to thank everyone for the love and support shown to us during the loss of our loved one.
