I met Heidi when we worked as legal assistants at the same firm in Minneapolis. We kept in touch when she moved to Madison. Later, when I entered grad school in Madison, Heidi and I enjoyed a number of things together- the U of W-Madison women's volleyball games; Sunday breakfasts, fish boils and beers. I stopped to see her when I was back in the Midwest. She was a lot of fun and a dedicated public servant with a love of Madison. She was the sweetest person. My sympathies to her many friends and family members on her loss. I hope our memories will be of comfort in the days and years ahead as she is and will be missed.

To the family of Heidi J Fischer, you all have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your wonderful sister and aunt. I have known Heidi from the time she came to work for the City of Madison and was very fortunate to have her for a friend for all these years. Her pleasant nature and warm smile were such a part of who she was, a very caring individual. Over the years we played recreation volleyball together on an office team, enjoyed get togethers with work friends and she also attended a few Badger volleyball matches with me. I was deeply saddened to hear her condition had taken a turn for the worse recently and then it became clear that the end was near. And then the news came in a text to a mutual friend while we were at a retirees' breakfast. As hard as it is to deal with her loss, there is a sense of relief that she is now at peace. And she can join your parents and Roberta again. Thank you, Heidi, for being a true friend, John Baumann
