Obituary

STOUGHTON-Donald Marvin Alshouse of Stoughton, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at UW-Hospital in Madison. He was born on Aug. 29, 1943, in Mendota, Ill., the son of Marvin and Grace (Bonnell) Alshouse. Don attended Stoughton High School, graduating in 1961. Following graduation, Don enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He met Yorie Matake while serving in Japan and they married on April 16, 1965. Don was honorably discharged from service and returned to Stoughton, where he began his career in law enforcement. He worked for the City of Stoughton and the Dane County Sheriff’s Dept. Don also worked for Frito-Lay as a semi-truck driver until retirement. Don is survived by his sisters, Diane Hernstine and Kathleen (Gary) Kvalheim; nephews, Scott Hernstine and Daniel Kvalheim; nieces, Kristen Krause and Cynthia Armstrong; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Yorie; and his brother-in-law, Delwyn Hernstine. Per Don’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, with military honors. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
