Carl Klappauf

OREGON- Carl Alvin Klappauf of Oregon, age 69, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020. He was born on June 25, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to Loretta and Alvin Klappauf. Carl graduated with honors from Illinois State University and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He married Karen Klappauf in Eugene, Oregon in 1988. Carl and Karen moved to Wisconsin in 1998 with their family. Carl enjoyed working in the yard and watching the NFL with a special place in his heart for the Raiders before he became a Packers fan. Fond memories of Carl include going to the Oregon Duck games when the family lived in Eugene; he often had all access passes as part of his work. They enjoyed family vacations to Sunriver and the Oregon Coast. Putting up Christmas lights seemed to happen on the coldest day of the year with daughter, Tristin and Tyson recalls searching for the perfect Christmas tree. The Christmas Vacation movie, and all Chevy Chase movies, will remind close family and friends of holiday memories around the Klappauf Family Christmas tree. Karleah remembered his love of Western movies and how he used to enjoy wearing cowboy hats and wranglers. He was also lovingly referred to as Grandpa Mustache. Carl is survived by his daughters, Tristin (Dan), Tyson (Luke) and Karleah (Alex); grandchildren, Olivia, Autumn and Ethan; sister, Mary Houlihan; and brother, Mark (Annette). A Mass in Carl’s honor will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main Street, Oregon, at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, with a Celebration of Carl’s life to begin at 2:30 pm. Following the Mass there will be Military Honors outside the Church.
