Obituary

WESTPORT / MIDDLETON - Arthur Henry “Art” Stark, age 92, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at home after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on March 6, 1928, the son of John and Edith (Beglinger) Stark. He graduated from Madison West in 1946, and proudly served his country during World War II. He married Joanne Kessenich on Aug. 2, 1952, and together they shared 68 wonderful years together. Art was a plumber throughout the Madison and Southern Wisconsin area. He retired from the Plumbers Local Union 75 and he enjoyed serving the City of Middleton as their plumbing inspector until 2016. Art loved traveling with Joanne and they took many wonderful river cruises in Europe. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada. Art always looked forward to his annual hunting and fishing trips, seeing progress at Hope Valley Farm, and discussing new construction projects. His biggest joy was visits with the family. Art is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughter, Jane (Robert) Sewell of Omaha, Neb.; sons, John (Debi) Stark of Midland City, Ala. and Lee (Janice) Stark of Neenah, Wis.; grandchildren, David (Carrie) Stark of Montgomery, Ala. and Megan (Andrew) Compton of Midland City, Ala.; and great-grandchildren, Ella and Felicity Stark and Liam Compton. Art is also survived by his sister, Beverly Haugen; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, John and Avalyn Stark; brother, Robert “Bobby” Stark; brother-in-law, Don Haugen; and a granddaughter, Diana Lynn Stark. The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare for their compassion and support. Art will be missed by all who knew him, but mostly by his wife, children and family. Please know that he is in a better place looking after each of us. Due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding COVID-19, there will be a private service in the future. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Agrace HospiceCare. Gunderson West Funeral & Cremation Care 7435 University Ave. (608) 831-6761
