Mary Jane Dunn
June 30, 1932 - November 22, 2020
Obituary
MADISON - Mary J. Dunn, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on June 30, 1932, in Madison, the daughter of John and Olive (Dahl) Dunn.
Mary grew up as one of three children on her parent’s local farm in Dane county. She graduated from East High School in 1950 and worked on that farm for several years. Mary then worked at WPS for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a long-standing member of St. Dennis Parish, her faith was an important part of her life. Her biggest joy was spending time with her extended family. She loved taking her 17 nieces and nephews on various outings to the Vilas Zoo, local theaters, lakes and swimming holes. (She was well known as their main source of chewing gum.) Later in life she enjoyed it when they in turn, took her to Ho-chunk and other casinos around the state. She loved to play Bingo.
Mary was generous with her time and often took those nieces and nephews to doctor’s appointments or picked them up from school when they were feeling ill. She continued to provide rides to neighbors and friends until she could no longer drive. Mary was at every family gathering, the family photographer, equipped with her bag of quarters and always ready for a lively card game. She could never be convinced that there was ever a better television show than The Andy Griffith Show and continued to watch it until the day she died. Mary will be remembered forever for her feisty sense of humor, her kind heart underneath her hard shell, and she will be dearly missed. It is comforting to know she will be welcomed into the open arms of Family who have gone before her.
Mary is survived by two nephews, Dennis (Taffee) Kubly, William (Mary) Kubly; nine nieces, Sharon Draeger, Kathleen (Ron) Thorson, Jeanne Kubly, Bonnie Kubly, Connie Kubly, Karin Finken, Patti (Robert) Brown, Pamela Kubly and Mary Kubly; five in-laws, Dennis Landen, Lee Anderson, Rick Suchomel, Carmen Kubly and Lee Anderson; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia (Samuel) Kubly; brother, Leonard Dunn; three nieces, Darlene Landen, Diane Anderson and Debora Suchomel; and three nephews, Thomas (Geri) Kubly, Jeffrey Kubly, and Michael Kubly.
A graveside service will be held at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS, 3054 County Road BB, Cottage Grove, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding.

Mary, I hadn’t known you long, just a few years, but I can say with certainty, Friday Warner Park bingo will not be the same without you! Also, it was great fun taking you out to Dejope on many Wednesdays! So sorry I didn’t have a chance to say goodbye in these unhealthy times! Rest In Peace! Ann Feeney

I didn't know Mary very well, but she was my Aunt. My father was her brother, Leonard Dunn. You have my sympathy for your loss. I lost my father almost 3 years ago. I will keep your family in my prayers. Cathy Creech(Dunn)
