VERONA - Randall C. "Ra" "Randy" Gammeter, age 66, of Fitchburg, passed away of a heart attack after a long series of illnesses, on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on June 4, 1954, the son of Norris and Joan (Walsh) Gammeter.
Randy graduated from Verona High School in 1970. He married Marian "Nicki" Nicholson on Sept. 19, 2008, in Madison. Randy enjoyed watching Packers and Badgers football. He was a hardworking man who had various jobs and his favorite was welding.
Randy is survived by his wife, Nicki; son, Jason Gammeter; father, Norris (Lucy); siblings, Jim (Kathleen) Gammeter, Vickie (Marty) Hruska and Julie (Paul) Niesen; sister-in-law, Jean Hoffmann; brother-in-law, Don Nicholson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan; and his beloved four-legged canine companion, Packer.

Met Randy in junior high and we immediately became friends and stayed friends as adults. We did everything together—watched Freddy’s Inferno Saturday nights, went tent camping, we both wrestled in high school, we both had the same cars and we doubled dated. We even celebrated our June birthdays together with a half barrel of beer. During a Packer game he could heard yelling Hi-a-ho and geek-a-lee. When you’d ask him a question he’d always say maybe. I have lots and lots of stories I could share and I’m really going to miss him. Love you my friend. Randy

I remember Randy loving the Packers so much he had his dog named Packer. You will be missed, Randy.

Randy ( my dear friend) Randy and I grew up together in Fitchburg. I have known Randy since I was 7 years old. We did alot of things together. Randy, Johnnie and I used to camp out together in the summer. We watched alot of Packer games together, played softball and bowled together. We used to get a case of beer ( Pabst Blue Ribbon) when we knew that a thunderstorm was coming and just watched it storm. We used to have a TV outside during preseason games for the Packers and have a bonfire at the same time. We had many, many great times together. I think that we were part owners of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
