Obituary

RIO - Troy Mitchell Arnold, age 51, of Rio, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, after battling severe chronic pain after he was hit by a train 16 years ago. His pain was debilitating and everyday was a struggle for him. He wouldn't admit it, but he struggled with depression, mainly from the pain he had endured over the years. Troy was born on May 24, 1969, in Stoughton, the son of Sharon (Paulson) Grzenia and Bruce Arnold. He married Michelle Meicher on Oct. 9, 1999. They resided in Rio for the past 13 years. Troy was a loving husband who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and spoiling his rooster, Flash. He also enjoyed four wheeling and dirt bike riding. Troy was very artistic when it came to drawing, adult coloring, assembling models, or creating scenes such as war time or an elaborate scene filled with wildlife, plants, figurines, rivers and lighting. He also enjoyed reading and watching movies and documentaries (especially anything and everything to do with Vietnam). He loved spending time outdoors, watching wildlife - including saving various songs birds (I called him the bird whisperer.) Troy had a passion for music, which was his release. He loved going to concerts and watching the local bands and if they let him, he would get up there and sing. Troy will be fondly remembered as someone who cared more for others than he did for himself. Troy is survived by his wife of 21 years, Michelle; father, Bruce (Jill) Arnold; brother, Jesse (Lisa) Arnold, niece, Alana Leedom (Miguel); nephew, Charles Leedom (Cierah); uncle, Shane Arnold; aunts, Bonnie Arn; Debbie Lehman and Patti Phillips; cousins; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother; uncle, James Paulson; aunt, Janice Griffin; maternal grandparents, Adeline and Ivan Paulson; paternal grandparents, Bernard "Butch" and Shirley Arnold; cousin, Heidi Ellingson; aunts, Kathleen Hessler, Barbara Lehr, Sharon Olsen; and other family members. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Troy- you were my husband, best friend, my rock, my soul mate. I will miss your smile, laugh and caring ways. you were always there for me. A part of me has gone with you. I will always love and miss you until we are together again. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. I loved spending time in the summer with Troy. We had so much fun riding mini bikes and getting into trouble. I remember Aunt Sharon made us undress and hose off in the yard one day because we decided to walk through a farmers field to take a short cut home. Unfortunately the field had just been spread with manure. LOL. We had great times! I will always remember him smiling and singing to KISS. Rock on in heaven Troy! Love you💋 Wendy
