MADISON - Dyanne Elizabeth Kleiner Meicher, age 91, of Madison, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025.
She was born on December 4, 1933, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison to Jake and Alice Kleiner. Dyanne grew up on the city’s east side with her sister, Kathleen, and brother, Don. Her family was close-knit, and she adored her grandmother, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She attended Emerson Grade School, St. Bernard’s School, and graduated from Madison East High School in 1951.
While ice skating at Tenney Park, Dyanne met the love of her life, Don Meicher, on a blind date. They married on October 26, 1957, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Madison. Shortly after, they moved to Monterey, California, where Don was stationed with the U.S. Army. In 1958, they returned to Madison and settled in the La Follette neighborhood, where they raised their five children: Kim (Tim) Hallock, Kirk, Keith, Kevin, and Ken (Lynn). Dyanne was also blessed with a grandson, Jake (Amy) Hallock, and a great-granddaughter, Lennon.
Dyanne devoted her life to her family. A talented cook and baker, she was known for making special birthday cakes and Christmas treats that her children still remember fondly. Outside the home, she worked as a secretary for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and later as a “lunch lady” for the Madison Metropolitan School District, where she built treasured and lasting friendships.
Her faith was central to her life, and she was proud to be an initial member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Dyanne’s quick wit, contagious laugh, and love of a good time made her unforgettable. She and Don formed close bonds with their neighbors-first on Spaanem Avenue, where they raised their children, and later on McClellan Drive, where they enjoyed many driveway gatherings with their condo community friends.
She loved family camping trips, especially at the family’s longtime permanent site at Pride of America campground. Creative at heart, she enjoyed making ceramics with her Spaanem Avenue friends. She also loved games-whether Euchre, Solo, Scrabble, or solitaire-and she will be remembered by her children for the familiar phrase, “Wait until your dad gets home.”
In her final months, Dyanne received tender and loving care from the staff at Maplewood in Sauk City and from Agrace Hospice, for which her family is deeply grateful. Above all, Dyanne cherished her extended family and the joy of gatherings, whether large or small, where love, laughter, and connection filled the room.
Private funeral services will be held for the immediate family, with a celebration of Dyanne’s life to be held at a later date.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. See you over the rainbow….
