Obituary
MADISON - Rose Marie (Robinson) Shank passed away on Oct. 2, 2021, surrounded by family at UW Hospital in Madison, two weeks after being admitted for COVID-19 which devastated her lungs. She is known to many as a second mother, consummate caregiver, and to her family as the best sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wife you could imagine. Rose loved antiques, word games, puzzles, knitting and sewing, her beloved puppy, Daisy, and most of all her devoted family.
Rose was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine (Flory) Robinson; father, Joel Ernest Robinson; brother, Colin (Brub) Robinson; brothers-in-law, Doug Crawmer and Lloyd Foreman: and sister-in-law, Jennifer (Bloom) Robinson.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Shank of Madison; sons, Robert Jr. (Judy) and Michael (Laurie) both of McFarland and Christopher (Becky) of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Liam and Henry, Spencer, Cain (Carleen) and Kayleen (Taylor); one great-granddaughter, Mia; and her beloved puppy, Daisy.
In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Ruth Foreman of Columbus, Ohio and Waynesboro, Va. and Rebecca Crawmer of Littlestown, PA.; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family in our corner of Pennsylvania.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rose's name to St Jude's Children's Hospital or the Covid-19 Research Fund - 112580278 at the University of Wisconsin Foundation website at advanceuw.org.
Another way you can honor Rose is to please get vaccinated and make sure to wear a mask around others. This has been a terrible time and an enormous loss for our extended family. We know Rose would wish that no other family would go through what she and our family have endured in the last several weeks.
The family would like to thank the entire UW TLC care team, especially Courtney, Dr. Ellenbach, and her nurse, Shane, all of whom showed extreme kindness and devotion to both Rose and our family and made this very difficult time a bit more bearable knowing that she was in their care. We cannot thank you enough. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
