Obituary
MONONA - Jeffrey Scott Nyenhuis, age 56, of Monona, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes, on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020. He was born on Aug. 26, 1964, in Sheboygan, the son of William and Joan (Meylink) Nyenhuis.
Jeffrey graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1982, where he was the proud recipient of the basketball Defensive Player of the Year Award, as well as a fierce offensive lineman. He went on to graduate from the UW-Stout with a bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering. Jeff was mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He was self-employed, a jack of all trades and a member of the Monona Grove Businessman's Association.
Jeffrey’s family meant the world to him. His greatest source of pride were his children, Andrew and Delaney. He loved cheering them on at their multiple sporting events. Family board games were a favorite, especially since he knew all the rules! His hobbies included hunting and fishing, as well as softball and golf. He also enjoyed watching football and basketball and was known to cook a delicious meal to accompany it. Jeff was an avid outdoorsman and loved going to the property in Tomah and the adventures of four wheeling and snowmobiling.
Jeffrey is survived by his children, Andrew Nyenhuis and Delaney Nyenhuis; former wife, Lisa Sheil Nyenhuis; parents, William and Joan; brother, Scott (Barb) Nyenhuis; sister, Jodi (Dale) VanEss; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Nyenhuis; maternal grandparents, Leland and Jenny Meylink; and paternal grandparents, William G. and Alice Nyenhuis.
A drive through visitation will be held at the SHEIL FAMILY FARM, 2038 Hwy MM, Oregon, on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020, from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. A private family service will follow. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

My name is Dave. Paula and I have been lucky enough to know Jeff and his family for many years. You can search the world over and not find better people. Jeff fit right in with that description. Through the years he and Paula and I became the three musketeers. We understood one another and did everything together. Shopping, the beach, dinner, breakfast, naps, 4 wheeling, cutting firewood, campfires and etc... You could not find a better friend or a better family. I don't know how to proceed without our best friend. I know that we still have his family that we can all lean on together. But this is difficult. Its so hard to lose someone you love with all your heart in the blink of an eye. But Jeff would want us to go forward. So in his name, as hard as it will be, we will join with his family and do our best to live the rest of our lives to the best of our abilities to make him proud. He didn't like it, but I always told him how much I loved him. Paula did as well. I'm glad we did. And I am so thankful to have been lucky enough to love his family and him and to have shared so many special times with our best, very special friend. We will love you dearly everyday and miss you as much everyday. We thank your family and God for the pleasure of calling you our family. You were, and always will be, our brother. I hope you knew how special you and your family are to us. Till we meet again, we love you with all of our hearts and always will. I can't believe you are gone. Its like a bad dream. Look down on all of us with love. Thank you Jeff for all the good times. We love you forever.

Game nights just aren't going to be the same, who is going to verify the rules? I will never forget my first time being at deer camp. Something along the lines of 'who brings a girl to deer camp', but watching all of the boys in their element together is something I will always cherish, and look forward to seeing every year. It just won't be the same. I swear when he was driving around he always had either Gregory or Rylee on the 4-wheeler with him. We can't go pass his trailer without making a pit stop for "Jeff Jerky" or Chocolate from his fridge. He is going to be missed on so many different levels.

One of my favorite memories of Jeff was one of those sacred moments where a man becomes vulnerable because his heart had been so deeply touched by one of his children. It was Delaney's end of the year celebration for third graders, and the children ended the celebration singing, "Its a Wonderful World" to the accompaniment of Louis Armstrong. Unexpectedly, it turned out to be Jeff's undoing! As families were leaving, Jeff approached me with tears in his eyes and running down his cheeks. I was so touched and honored to witness the profound love and pride that he so obviously felt for his most precious daughter, Delaney. It was apparent that this big strong man, so fierce and tough in life, had opened his gentle loving heart to share the incredible love he had for his children and family. Our family is lifting you all in our thoughts and prayers. We are so sorry for your loss. With all our Love, Lori Klein and Family
