I was fortunate to work with Jim at Rural Insurance. He was my greatest mentor and I am thankful and blessed to have known Jim. I do recall talking about his words, “Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather…to skid broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW…What a ride!” many years ago.
Jim was a kind and matter-of-fact fellow who gave chances and even more changes and anyone that had the opportunity to know him, was blessed.
Healing thoughts and prayers, Eileen, Marc, and Brad.

So sorry for your loss Eileen, Marc and Brad. I remember how Jim and Bob reconnected when Bob was diagnosed with cancer. Jim was right there to help and encourage Bob with his 10 year battle and Jim had his own cancer battle he was fighting but yet he was there for another person, encouraging and supporting them every step along the long journey He was a good man and will be greatly missed by his loving family, as well as many others that were fortunate enough to cross path's with Jim.
Rest in Peace Jim.

We wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Eileen, Marc, Brad and the Scrivner family. I first knew Jim as my babysitter as a kid and brother of Doug and Tom. I remember him restoring old cars and as Madison police officer.. He always had a zest for life and could sustain a belch with great resonance. I was pleased to have Brad as a student in the Belleville Band Program. We will miss Jim very much. A contribution has been made to. The UW Carbone Cancer Center Head & Neck Dept.

Years ago, I worked with Jim at Rural Insurance. He was always a straight-forward, friendly, decisive and good natured guy. Sorry to hear of his passing. Denny Marx, Madison
