Fred hired me in 1975 at the USGS. I will always remember him as a kind and generous person. I grew up in Chippewa Falls, so went to his families sports shop many times, looking for that perfect fishing bait. Paul Boetcher 1975 -2006, usgs.

It was impossible for you to say enough wonderful things about Fred. They do not make
men this good any more Judy and I played bridge with him regularly, and his intelligence and good nature were always so apparent We will truly miss him.
