Obituary

DEFOREST - Olivia Nicole Simon, age 21, of DeForest, was taken from us all too soon on Thursday, July 30, 2020 from an accident. Olivia was a proud Native Coloradan, being born to Gary Simon and Jennifer Roth on December 18, 1998, in Louisville, Colorado. She graduated from DeForest High School with the class of 2017 and was currently attending Madison College with plans to transfer to UW Madison and hopefully into a career in social work. Early in life she loved horses and showed horses in English Pleasure. In high school she was on the tennis team, very active in clubs, and simply loved being social. Olivia worked for Eurofins Food Solutions and at Klein’s Floral while she was attending college. She was an animal lover with a fondness for dogs. Olivia always found the perfect song for any occasion. Her playlists are still being used to this day for various clubs and social groups she was involved in. She was a bright light that had an unmatched loving and inclusive personality that is reflected in the network of friends and coworkers that loved sharing time with her. You truly felt better about yourself having spent time with her due to her enthusiasm for living, sense of humor and spontaneous outlook on life. Olivia is survived by her parents, Jennifer (Jamie Vanden Wymelenberg) Roth and Gary (Laura) Simon; brother, Will Simon; paternal grandparents, William and Mary Simon; step brother, Jordan Vanden Wymelenberg; step sister, Katherine Ikaunieks; uncles, Edward "Eddie" Roth, Greg (Patty) Roth, Mark (Mari) Simon; aunt, Susan (Lee) Podoski; and many loving cousins, family and friends. It’s hard to write down 19 years worth of memories, but my favorite ones always took place at Grandma Mary’s house. Wish we could do one more falling down hug💗 I was so incredibly lucky to have not only a cousin but a best friend as bright & full of life as you were. Until we meet again my sweet Olivia 🦋

I will never forget this moment with Olivia because it was very funny and it was sweet and innocent. Olivia and I were in Drivers Ed together and she was my driving partner. One day we were driving in the neighborhood behind Henry Vilas Zoo and Olivia was driving. Our driver instructor said "Ok Olivia do you know whats up ahead?". As he said that she got the biggest smile on her face and in a very excited tone she said "THE ZOO!". Then our driver instructor said "NO, an uncontrolled intersection!". Then he hit the student break hard. Both Olivia and I were laughing so hard while our driver instructor was not amused. She then apologized and said "Sorry, I was just so excited we were going to drive by the zoo!". -Bret Williams
