Gary was an easy guy to talk as we shared passions for UW sports and baseball. We are losing baseball fans in this case much too young. Gary was generous in that he hooked me up with Badger basketball tickets several times and his enthusiasm for UW was infectious. Baseball though was his and my true love and now he can meet some of his favorites and have great discussions about among other things the DH coming to the National League. Sorry to ramble but his passing was so shocking as I am much older than him and of course my condolences to his wife and brothers.

Gary had the same smile and love for the game of baseball when he moved to Elmwood Avenue. Lots of pickup games in the vacant lots and an occasional broken windows in the homes on both sides. He has a great personality and an infectious smile.! Rest in your field of dreams! My sympathies to all.

Our Mom’s are sisters ! I have so many fond memories of hanging with Gary, Kathy, David, Billy and Karen. We all spent a lot of time at our Grandparents Herman and Sally Simon’s . Many afternoons/evenings playing in the field with Elmwood St gang. May all of your memories bring you peace ! Jeannie (Adler) Ammirati

Gary was a gentleman and he loved the game of baseball and worked tirelessly to promote youth baseball in Oregon. I had the pleasure of umpiring many games with Gary through the years and enjoyed his knowledge of the game and it’s rules. The Madison area has lost a true treasure in baseball and life.
