Obituary

OREGON - Jeffrey Scott "Jeff" Eyers, age 54, of Oregon, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020. He was born on Sept. 1, 1965, in Madison, the son of Neil and Judy (Kemper) Eyers. Jeff graduated from Middleton High School in 1984 and was a proud UW-Whitewater alumnus. It was there that he met the love of his life, Vicki Small. They were united in marriage on May 12, 1990, in Reedsburg, Wis. Jeff leveraged his detail-oriented and hard-working personality as he worked as a project manager at Cummins Filtration for over 20 years. He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting, camping, traveling and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards. Jeff was very handy and took pride while fixing cars and woodworking-especially building fun furniture projects. Jeff passed along many of his interests to his children. Most of all, Jeff was a family man, he loved being with his family no matter what they were doing. Along with that, Jeff was very personable and enjoyed talking with his many friends. So much so, that his family often thought he had gotten lost running an errand but, in all actuality, he had just found someone to have a nice conversation with. Jeff is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughter, Melissa (Forrest) Cantwell; son, Zachary (Naomi) Eyers; parents; Neil and Judy; and brother, Craig (Lisa) Eyers. Public visitation will take place at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020. A private service will follow. Jeff was such a big part of our lives - from being at the cabin with us (and always being the first one up in the morning!), to card club, nights at the Main Tap, and our memorable trip to Utah. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. and made life more enjoyable just by being himself. The way in which Jeff faced his diagnosis - with such dignity and courage - will always be an inspiration to me. We will miss you, and we will never forget you or the impact you had on our lives.

Jeff was a warm and friendly colleague to work with. I have had so many good "hallway chats" with him that felt much deeper than the usual small talk that is exchanged. Our conservations always left me feeling better. He will be greatly missed at Cummins. Sending hugs to his family and friends.

Jeff was the man who hired me at Cummins and would be my boss for 2+ years. I had tremendous respect for him as he was extremely knowledgeable about work related items but so much more than just work. He was always more than willing to discuss vacations he had been on and to share the best places to go to when I was on my way to the same locations. He was a true friend and I will miss him greatly. My sincerest condolences to his family and his village.

Jeff was my neighbor and friend. I will miss the motorcycle rides we had. The look on his face when I placed my political signs on our lot line. The conversations we had after shoveling snow or mowing the lawn (I have to admit he had the best looking lawn in the neighborhood). The summer nights in the backyard having Old Fashions and watching the kids play. He was the example of what a man, husband, father and neighbor should be. We will miss him dearly.

Some of my favorite memories that I have had with my dad have been through enjoying the environment that surrounds us. Whether it be through hunting in the woods, riding our motorcycles down a back road, or doing any sort of project outdoors. My dad loved to take in the scenery for what it was and often reflected on those times. One of my favorite motorcycle rides with my dad was when he came out to Sturgis while I was working the rally. We took an incredible ride through Spearfish Canyon while passing by hundreds of other motorcycle riders who were also there to enjoy the beauty. I was honored to be able to help him check something off his bucket list that week and will forever be a good memory of him. I am the first to admit that I am not the greatest with directions and therefore typically ride with a destination in mind and have my GPS talking to me through my headset. My dad has showed me that some of the best trips are to ride in hopes of getting lost and finding your way home later. Picture is from another ride he went on in Sturgis with his friend Paul called Needles Highway.
