I was very sad to read of Helen's death. I was a teacher at Sauk Trail Elementary School in Middleton and worked with Helen for many years. She was a wonderful teacher, a kind and compassionate person and was a strong to support to me as a young, brand new teacher. Sending healing prayers to Helen's family.

Helen took me under her wing when we first moved to Madison in 1970. Our husbands worked together at the State DOT. We had many get togethers and share our heritage from western Wisconsin. I have many very good recipes from Helen. When we had our third child, Wendy, we asked Roger and Helen to be God Parents. They were wonderful caring God parents and will always be special to our daughter and to our whole family. Jeanie Sieling

We were so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. It was such a pleasure getting to know her and Andy over the past 20 years, through Wade's mom Marvel. We were so fortunate to have visited her in March and to see that she still had that wonderful smile and sense of humor. We will miss her. Thinking of your family at this sad time. Wade and Kim Mapes

I was very sorry to learn of Helen's passing. We met when she was at UW-Lacrosse for a semester to help her family during a parent's illness. When she returned to Luther the next fall, I visited her there several times and considered transferring there myself. We lost track of each other and reconnected many years later when I moved to Stoughton. Sadly, we only talked by phone and never had a chance to get together for coffee. She was a great friend who had a lovely outgoing personality and smile. My thoughts are with her family along with my sympathy. Leanne Gunderson Menninga

It is hard to say goodby to a long-time friend. We had the good fortune to know Helen from the time she and her family moved to Madison and joined our church, Advent Lutheran, more than fifty years ago. When our children were very small she volunteered her family to look after our children in their home while we had choir practice. We were frequent visitors and enjoyed the same interests with both Helen and Roger. After Roger's untimely death we continued enjoying her company and were happy to have gotten to know Andy. Even as her health began to take her away, her sense of humor and sparkling personality continued. We will miss her.
