Ruth was born in Fennimore, Wis., in 1922 and graduated from high school there. She continued her education at UW-Milwaukee and graduated with a degree in elementary teaching with a music minor. Ruth spent her career teaching primary-aged children from 1945 until the mid-1980s. Ruth is survived by her children, Rachel Ellen Rankin and Stephen Gregory (Margery) Rankin; grandson, Stephen Edward (Danielle) Rankin, and their children, Addison Otwinowski, William Otwinowski, Clara Rankin and John B. Rankin, all of Downer’s Grove, Ill.; granddaughter, Adena Rankin (Daniel) Rottinger, and their children, Lillian Rottinger, Gregory Rottinger and Henry Rottinger, all of Blue Mounds. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen; parents; sister, Grace Luhman; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Ann Mauer; and brother-in-law, Burt Luhman.

Ruth expressed her heartfelt appreciation for all those at Ingleside Communities that kept her in their care and helped her navigate through her struggles in her final years.

I was just thinking about Ruth yesterday and wondering if she was still with us. We Fennimore girls ate at the same table at Girlies Manor for quite awhile. Had some good memories, stories, etc. Sorry to hear of her passing. Joyce Clampitt

My thoughts are with Ruth's family. Ruth and her sister were both members of Chapter AG of P.EO. so I appreciated their smiles and gifts at various meetings. Ruth and I also enjoyed many conversations at First United Methodist Church during the time I served there as Director of Music. She was such a warm and friendly person. Although we have not been in touch lately, I remember her fondly. Although not there at the same time, we also shared music degrees from UW-M, a good school. Sandra Yakes

I have been thinking about Ruth ("Mrs. Rankin") lately & then I heard of her passing. What a wonderful, long life! She & Pastor Rankin were such Blessings & strong role models to those of us growing up at First United Methodist Church in Oshkosh. Their positive influence has been a source of strength for me my whole life. With many fond memories, Sue (Whitford) Shemanski.
