MADISON - Rita Mary Salathe, age 73, of Sun Prairie, Wis., passed away on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at Lilac Springs Assisted Living Facility in Lake Mills, Wis. She was born on June 12, 1950, in Cuba City, Wis., the daughter of Urban and Mary (Scheckel) Wiegel.
Rita graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1968. Her career consisted of working in various administrative roles, retiring from Johnson Controls Inc., in Madison, Wis. She was an Auxiliary Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Rita enjoyed dancing, camping, and playing euchre with family and friends. She loved to spend time with family, especially her sisters and close friends. She also enjoyed card games, massages, and keeping a tidy home.
Rita is survived by her son, Tony (Kate) Salathe; and seven grandchildren, Kayla Indra, Collin Salathe, Corey Salathe, Kiran Indra, Zachary Indra, Wolfram Indra and Ronin Indra. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Karen) Wiegel; five sisters, Adele Crary, Linda Scheuerell, Irene (Tom) Burris, Chris (Jim) Perry and Rose (Greg) Schulte; son-in-law, Kyle (Nitsuh) Indra; and friend, Ron Holtz. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Therese Mary Indra; husband, Jim Harmer; brother, Ralph Wiegel; and parents, Urban and Mary Wiegel.
