Obituary
MADISON - Sharanne Eileen Stitgen, age 69, of Madison, passed away New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2021, comforted by her family’s love and support. She was the first born of five to Harold and Mary (Wallace) Stitgen.
Sharanne received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and later received her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Psychology, both from the University of Wisconsin. She worked as an R.N. for over 22 years.
She loved showing her Champion Yorkies, competitive ballroom dancing, and was a graceful, beautiful downhill skier. Above all, her greatest love was her family.
Sharanne faced multiple physical challenges with poise, a smile and great determination strengthened by her faith and spirituality. She rose above her physical obstacles by making rosaries and handcrafted cards which she freely shared with others. She touched many lives on a daily basis with her meaningful gifts which she widely shared.
She was active in multiple organizations including the Mermaids, the Hummingbirds, and the Republican Women of Dane County. She had a great presence and made many close friends at Coventry Village.
Sharanne is survived by her parents, Harold and Mary Stitgen; her siblings, Jeffrey (Gail), Stuart (Ann), Stacey (Walter) Meanwell and Thomas (Bridget); and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her special friend and cousin, Mary Wallace.
Sharanne had more challenges than most people, but she never complained, and we always walked away feeling happier for being with her. She brought joy to all she touched.
A private service will be held. Family and friends who wish to view services via LIVESTREAM may visit Sharanne's obituary page at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, and click on the Live Webcast link. My deepest condolences to Sharanne’s family. We worked together on F6/6 back in the 1980’s as a part of the Mary Brisky team. I loved Sharanne’s laugh and her smile. She was such a good person! Kris Thomas Dreifuerst

I met Sharrane about 7 years ago in a pain management class. We had 5 people in our class .We decided to name our group the hummingbirds. I am one of those hummingbirds. I have never met a more loving and caring person in my life. I am so sad that because of covid we were unable to get together this year, but I have so many wonderful memories that we had shared together. Sharrane, you will for always be in my heart and prayers. I will miss you dearly. Elaine

My Mother's name was also Sharanne. I met Sharanne Stitgen a number of years ago when I heard someone call her by name. I introduced myself, and it was such a pleasure to meet her. May she rest in peace.

I reconnected with Sharanne at our 50th class reunion. I was not able to mingle much so Sharanne spent a great deal of her time keeping me company. She was intuitive and kind in that way! I started taking warm water physical therapy at Research Park. My first day I saw this familiar face bobbing in the water. It was Sharanne! She took me under her wing and we tried to coordinate our times at the pool. It worked out fine for awhile, until COVID hit and the pool was closed. I will miss Sharrane!
