David W. Gill

MADISON - David W. Gill, age 83, of Madison, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Dave was born on August 3, 1940, in Madison, Wis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Clara (Stehr) Gill, and his sister, Margery L. Gill. Dave is survived by two brothers, Richard (Mary) Gill and Donald (Carolyn) Gill, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.

Dave graduated from Madison West 1958 and was then drafted into the United States Army. Professionally, Dave worked in Sales for Cantwell Printing, Pellitteri Systems, and Wisconsin Office Supply. Outside of his professional life, Dave was a passionate athlete and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed playing volleyball, softball, and tennis, always bringing his competitive spirit and sportsmanship to the game.

In his leisure time, Dave had a keen interest in thrift shopping. However, what truly defined Dave’s character was his unwavering commitment to volunteering and giving back to his community. He generously dedicated his time and efforts to various organizations and causes, volunteering at race events, the VA hospital, long term care/rehab facilities, Henry Vilas Zoo, and many more. He was also a cherished member of the Rotary Club and the American Legion Post 501. He leaves behind a legacy of service and integrity that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. Dave will be fondly remembered for his big-hearted and charismatic spirit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024. Burial will be held after the Mass at Highland Memory Gardens, followed by a luncheon back at the church in Marian Hall. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday.
