Amazing tribute to his legacy. So many obituaries omit the spirit and the life the person lived. This gave a great snapshot of who he truly was. It's lively. My father and mother, Stanford and Eunice would travel in the RV with Norton and Marie. I gave the many slides to Norton, his goal was to make a movie out of all those carousals. I have great memories of playing with Marita, Robin Finn and Leif. In the many days ahead as you face walking on without him. May sweet memories keep you warm.
My sincere condolences. Love Janet Erlandson Lang

When I remember Norton, I think of the three "S's": Sacrifice, Service, and Smile. I have known few who have so completely embraced all three. He sacrificed much in service to his country in World War II and he remained dedicated to serving others the rest of his life--his family, his community, his fellow veterans, and future generations who study his story . I am honored that I was able to interview him for the book mentioned in the obituary (an image shared here because Norton loved that his photo made the cover). Through it all, I see his smile. Every conversation, in everything he did, he had that smile. A deep enthusiasm for life and for history, for his fellow man and for his fellow veteran. Few have equaled, none have surpassed, his love of country, community, family, and history. I will miss the friend I made through hours talking about World War II and sharing stories. But I am glad that his story -- his dedication to sacrifice, service, and smile -- will live on in the stories he shared and the examples he set. His memory will always be a blessing.
Thank you Norton!
